OPI Glints of Glinda + Emily de Molly Stamping

Hi everyone,
How are your weekends going? Swimmingly I hope! It's getting bloody hot in Brisbane and it's still spring, so summer should be fun . . . For today's post I have a neutral sort of look going that I dressed up with a bit of stamping and Swarovski crystals. Enjoy!

OPI Glints of Glinda + EDM06 Stamping
For this mani I started off with a clear base (I am trialling gel overlays to help with my peeling nails and to seal them from dust etc) and applied 3 thin coats of Glints of Glinda which is from OPI's 2013 Oz collection. It also doubled as a soft shades collection so all the non-glitter polishes are actually neutral crellies. Glints of Glinda applied very well and I find the colour is a good match from my natural nail/skin tone.

Glints of Glinda  is a sheer apricot  tan colour that would take probably around 5 coats to become opaque, depending on how thick you apply them. I wanted this colour purely to even out my nail colour and to cover up some pretty gross yellow staining I have left from Orly's Melodious Utopia. check it out;

Nails with clear gel overlay using Gelish
So hopefully that will grow out sooner rather than later. It freaked my mum out, she asked if I'd taken up smoking. So it's not a good look having the clear gel overlay by itself at the moment. But Glints of Glinda was a good choice for a neutral/nude look. I topped off the mani with some Emily de molly stamping, using one of the new plates, EDM06. I also used a new squishy rectangular stamper that I bought from Amazon and it's quite good, but still requires some practice using. I stamped using Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in White On, which I have deliberately thickened for this purpose.

The stamping came out quite nice. It's a great palette cleansing mani without being too boring. It's a great subtle look that reminds me of weddings. Hell, if I were a bride I'd wear this! I added some Swarovksi crystals that I purchased off of Ebay. I used two sizes, the larger pink crystal is SS09 and the smaller clear crystal is SS05. What I love about these is the incredible sparkliness they give off plus the fact that they're reusable. Just rinse them in acetone and they're as good as new!

Here's a shot of this mani in the shade. Shade shots don't tend to show the colours up as well, plus this picture is a little blurry but at least you can see that the design is indeed still visible in lower lighting.

Fun fact about this post? The photo were taken the day I removed this polish. So for 4 days of wear the nails are looking pretty good! I had absolutely no chips with the gel overlay underneath, the polish held strong even without a basecoat. I'm quite impressed so far! also, the gel holds up really well with removal. I've removed two manis from it now and it's still as shiny as the day I put it on. I'll do a post about the gel after I've trialled it out properly.

What are your thoughts on this mani? Do you like subtle and feminine designs or do you need more colour to spice things up?

  1. I love manis like this and the only reason I don't wear them all the time is because I have a huge collection with all the colors and would feel guilty! Love your mani!

    I recently bought ASP Lightless Gel and intend to put it on my bare nails to see if that will add any strength to them. Hope to see your review with your trial with your gel overlay soon! I've had it with buying all those nail strengtheners and such, and them doing no good for me. I know they help others, just not me! Hope your gel overlays do good for you.

  2. Hi Lara!
    I am particularly fond of this mani, I just love the combo, plus it managed to (mostly) hide the yellow staining. The gel review might take a while as I want to properly trial it first. I only just bought some 'non acetone' remover to try and preserve the gel a bit better. I'll let you know how I go!
