Watercolour Flower Nail Art

Hi guys!
Today I have a nail art manicure, which is not what I usually do, but hey, I've been a bit bored with just one colour lately. Normally I progressively add to my manis until I'm ready to take them off. I saw a cool tutorial by Cutepolish which I quite liked, so if you want to see how this was one you can go there.

Zoya Blaze Swatch and Review + OPI The Living Daylights

Hi guys,
Today I have 2 new polishes for you to look at. This is after having several failed manis during the week. I may still post one of them but I wasn't too happy. Long story but I had a stick on tattoo fail and it was all downhill after that. For today's mani I have another Zoya and an untried OPI.

Just Bought Some MoYou London Plates!

Hi guys,
Just a quick one today. I discovered MoYou London this week and was messing around with my own stamping set (did not work out so well) and decided to buys some of the beautiful MoYou London plates. I was most excited about the full image plates, where it's just one large picture with various patterns all over it. I've looked at some great blog posts on how to use these, this post by Lacquer or Leave Her was especially useful.

Self drafted black circle skirt - Part 2

Hi guys,
Sorry it's been so long since my last sewing post! I need to try and stay on top of this more cause this skirt's been done for a week now. When i last left you here I had only done the overlocker stuff as my sewing machine was in the shop. I had attached the waistband to skirt and finished of all the edges, ready to add my zipper and hem.

Inglot Flakies Review + PVA Basecoat Removal

Hi guys,
How is everyone today?
I mean to post this last week but other stuff got in the way. I have a bit of a backlog at the moment, especially for my sewing posts. After trying out the PVA glue basecoat here with Revlon's Autumn Spice, i decided to add some flakies to it as Autumn Spice is quite dark but has that red/bronze shimmer which would match Inglot 202 quite well. Also, flakies are notoriously difficult to remove and having the PVA glue on meant that theoretically I wouldn't need to go through the foil method. Here's a shot of Inglot 202 in the sun.

Revlon Parfumerie Autumn Spice Review + PVA Glue Basecoat

Hi guys,
After having Zoya Veruschka on my nails for about 4 days I started to get a bit sick of it. I wasn't in the sun often enough to admire the sparkle and falls a bit flat in the shade. So I dipped into my untrieds and pulled out a polish from Revlon's new Parfumerie range, Autumn Spice. I also have Wintermint but haven't gotten around to trying that either. These are really expensive in Australia, like $16 a pop so I took advantage of a Priceline sale and picked up some new Revlon Lip Butters as well. those are amazing!

Zoya Surf Collection Striping Tape Mani + Quick Tutorial

Hi guys,
I've let Zoya Kimber sit on my nails for 2 days now and thought I'd add to it and I'm itching to use some more polishes from the Zoya 2012 Summer Surf collection. Because of the gold shimmer running through Kimber, I wanted to use gold stripping tape. I decided to do just the accent nails and added Zoya Carly and and Zoya Rory.

Zoya Kimber (2012 Summer Surf Collection) Review + Swatches!

Hi guys!
I have another Zoya for your today. I'm on a bit of a Zoya kick after purchasing 9 new ones in the last couple of weeks. Today's polish is Zoya Kimber from the 2012 Summer Surf Collection. Originally when I saw pictures of Kimber I thought it was a coral leaning orange colour, turns out I was wrong!

Self drafted black circle skirt - Part 1

My first sewing post!
I'm excited because as much as I love painting my nails, sewing is my true love, I just need to find the time for it! Since my sewing machine went off to the doctor to be serviced (the foot control stopped obeying me and my machine was sewing all by itself) I had to start a project that could be mostly done on my overlocker (that's a serger, but in Australia it's an overlocker so that's what I'll be calling it).

Zoya Harlow and Carly Checkers Manicure

Hi guys,
Today I have for you an addition to my Zoya Harlow manicure. If you haven't looked at my review yet you can find it here. after surviving rock climbing, this mani was still in good condition so I decided to add to it.

Zoya Matte Velvet Harlow Review + Swatch

Hi everyone,
Today I have for you a review of Zoya Matte Velvet polish Harlow. I buy my Zoyas from www.zoya.com.au and if you follow them on Facebook you'll see that they have sales fairly regularly. I picked up 3 matte velvets for $6 each which is a bargain considering they retail for $20 normally. The only pain is postage.

DIY Water Marbling Decal/Appliqué Tutorial

Hi guys,

I have another nail polish post for your today, these are so much easier to do than the sewing ones unfortunately, as they're much quicker. After getting a bit bored with my mani this week, I decided to add some water marbling accents. Unfortunately I didn't really like the finished result but I did catalogue the process so here goes.

Scofflaw Varnish Whiskey Tango Foxtrot Review + Swatch

Hi guys,
Today I have for you Whiskey Tango Foxtrot by Scofflaw Varnish. This is an indie polish that I picked up form Femme Fatale Cosmetics at the same time as Orange You Sweet. It's a sheer teal jelly that contains 11 different types of glitter, yes 11! There's about 5 different sizes of white, mostly hex but some square and another few in two different shades of red. There's also a square silver glitter if I'm not mistaken.

Polish Me Silly (Lush Lacquer) Orange You Sweet Review + Swatches

Hello!
Today I have my current manicure using one of my first ever indie polishes. I bought Lush Lacquer (now known as Polish Me Silly) Orange You Sweet from Femme Fatale cosmetics back in January. It was in their sales section so I think  scored it for about $5 for a full size bottle. In the bottle it doesn't look like much, just a mess of orangey yellow polish because the neon glitter is slightly transparent.

First Post!

Hi all,
This is my first ever post on this blog, so bear with me. I will be posting about my interests which are mainly sewing (apparel sewing) and nail polish. I started sewing about a year and half ago when I had a month free between uni semesters and I love it!  I bought a sewing machine and read a tonne of blog posts and can now sew up a fairly respectable looking garment.

Sewing takes a fair bit of time for me, I'm not the kind of person to whip up a garment in one afternoon, I'll usually make it over a few days or work on it just on weekends. So far I've made skirts, tops, a formal dress, a bathing suit and some shorts. I'm now starting to draft my own patterns based off ready to wear (RTW) items that fit me well.

Sewing allows me to construct garments that fit me well and take my unique body shape into account. One of the main issues I have with ready to wear items are the waist, I'm short waisted and therefore tops or dresses will be too big in the bust, or too tight in the waist, or the waist will be too low. I can account for this by sewing! With most top/dress patterns I generally have to shorten the waist, that's my main alteration. Because sewing is more time consuming than painting my nails, there will likely be several blog posts for one garment, going through the stages of construction. This will also allow me to keep track of what I sew and how I did it for future reference.

Now onto the polish! I love painting my nails, however I like to get decent wear out of a manicure which means that I do not change my nails more than twice a week. 5 days is average for me before I get bored of my mani, however sometime I add to it during the course of a week if it's not interesting enough.

Most of my nail polish is from the big brands like OPI, China Glaze and Zoya, however I'm just getting into the indie polishes which is dangerous for my bank account, there are so many out there! My latest lemmings are thermo polishes, particularly Dance Legends (DL) and also some of the beautiful multichromes by both DL and Polish Me Silly (formerly Lush Lacquer). However due to lack of storage space and a boyfriend who would also like to use this space, I have to curb my spending hoarding a bit, not to mention that I only have a total of 20 nails to paint. So I have quite a few untrieds in my stash waiting for their moment in the limelight.

Through this blog I will catalogue my manis and state my opinions on the particular lacquer I'm using. I will endeavor to post several times a week however I will not be swatching collections as I like to wear my polish for a few days and really appreciate it. At the moment I only have my phone as a camera, but I will be obtaining a DSLR soon for piccies, I just need to learn how to use it, so sorry in advance for the picture quality until I can obtain a better camera.

I hope you enjoy this blog as much as I enjoy writing it, I have been following nail and sewing blogs for a few years now and love seeing everyones opinions. On that topic, all opinions in this blog are mine and not influenced by anyone. Also all products and materials are purchased by me as these are hobbies I've had for years and am not paid to do it. Leave comments if you have any, I'd love to read them!

Until next time!
